Manchester United
and of course,
Real Madrid. BooksMarriage/Relationships Arterburn & Stoeker - Every Man's Battle - Challenging book for guys, bring your thought life under control. MacArthur, John - Different by Design - The role of a man and woman in God's design. Scott, Stuart/Peace, Martha - The Exemplary Husband/The Excellent Wife - The titles speak for themselves. Parenting Tripp, Ted - Shepherding a Child's Heart - "Written for parents with children of any age, this insightful book provides perspectives and procedures for shepherding your child's heart into the paths of life." Great parenting resource! Plowman, Ginger - Don't Make Me Count to Three! - "... encourages and equips moms to reach past the outward behavior of their children and dive deeply into the issues of the heart." A focus on using Scripture as you raise up your children in the Lord - applicable for dads too :). Biblical Counseling Ganz, Richard - PsychoBabble - "Explains the dichotomy between secular and Biblical counseling and shows the danger of incorporating secular techniques into a Christian approach." MacArthur, John - Our Sufficiency in Christ - "... make you newly aware of how completely God provides -- and give you renewed understanding of what it means to be 'complete in Christ.'" Reading with Children Lloyd-Jones - The Jesus Storybook Bible - Focuses on the Bible as a (true) love story, in which every single word points to Jesus Christ. At times each story is a bit too long for Lauren, but we are finding ways to hold her attention while we read (i.e. drawing out the main points of the text in crayon). Taylor, Kenneth - The New Bible in Pictures for Little Eyes - Each devotional can be short enough for a wiggly toddler or long enough for a relaxed toddler. It is also great that in the illustrations Jesus does not have blond hair and blue eyes! Other - Christian Lewis, C. S. - The Great Divorce - The author's vision of the "Afterworld". MacArthur, John - Hard to Believe - "Unflinching, unapologetic treatise on the modern tendency to alter the true message of Christianity in order to meet the whims and desires of a culture hoping for nonconfrontational messages, easy answers, and superficial commitments." ... "The hard truth about Christianity is that the cost is high, but the rewards are priceless: abundant and eternal life that comes only from faithfully following Christ." Packer, J. I. - Knowing God - The attributes of God ... and brought wonderfully together at the end of the book! Sproul, R. C. - Chosen by God - Predestination is for all biblical Christians. "Predestination doesn't create a whimsical or spiteful picture of God, but paints the portrait of a loving God who provides redemption for radically corrupt humans." Strobel, Lee - The Case for Christ - Some of the human evidence for the existence of Christ and His resurrection. Tozer, A. W. - The Knowledge of the Holy - "It bears eloquent witness to God's majesty and shows us new ways to experience and understand the wonder and the power of God's spirit in our daily lives." Other - GeneralGoscinny & Uderzo - Asterix - Makes you want to eat almost every time you read the stories! Rowling, J. K. - Harry Potter - Know that magic isn't real. Make sure you read your Bible so you are not confused by what you read. Remember these books are only fiction - now you can read and enjoy some very fun stories. Tolkein, J. R. R. - The Lord of The Rings Trilogy - These need no introduction. Watterson, Bill - Calvin and Hobbes - Awesome comics.
