Welcome Lauren Grace! 6/6/05: Here are the last pictures
from her very first month! We have a photo shoot of her modeling
her first
official church dress and sweater (what a beauty :)!) ... Daddy feeding
Lauren her very first bottle ... and a little play time at the baby gym
for Lauren and Mommy. Praise God for this amazing and
life-changing month! It sure did go by quickly!
6/4/05: She is 4 weeks old! We are
trying to get her to sleep without being swaddled, an endeavor that is
proving challenging at times but not too bad overall. Notice that she is
longer! She also enjoys helping Daddy to wake up when he has
pressed the snooze button one-to-many times :)!
5/30/05: Among these pictures we have her first full bath, as well some play
time in her gym. You will probably notice that she is getting her hair
brushed - for the first time ever! She enjoyed it so much she fell
asleep... The last picture was taken at church, where she is extremely
surprised to have a fellow child touch her foot!
5/26/05: To throw a curve ball, the
picture descriptions are now under each thumbnail. Enjoy!

Happy Sleep
One of the best feelings is when she is smiling... |
|
|
|
Word!
This baby loves the Word. We can't help it - she kept crying until she got the baby's Bible! (Actually, she really likes the colors :) ) |

Look me in the Eyes
Mom and Lauren staring each other down to see who will smile first. No contest. |

Cooling off
It got pretty warm in our home, so a cool washcloth on the head and a picture were in order. |
|

|
Bouncy chair & Wild hair
Given that she doesn't have much hair, this is as wild as Jamie could make her "do" with the washcloth. By the way, her foot is about as big as Gruia's big toe. But her feet are *a lot* cuter. (Added note from Jamie ... I think that it is a tie!) |

Something is not quite right
It's not always smiles and happiness. Sometimes she has to communicate that something needs to change (maybe diaper, environment, more food, etc...) This is probably one of those times! |
|
|
|
Maybe it's sleep
Perhaps it is sleep that she needed - the yawn might be a clue. Just maybe though, it's not always a guarantee. |
|

|
Play time
It's one of her favorite toys, Milos the friendly horse. He also has rubber hands and "horse feet" for when she starts teething. Yep, we're guessing they will be good friends in the months ahead. |

5/21/05: Taking a bath. Sleeping.
Story time. These were the highlights of her activities today - sleep
being a top priority. In other news, Jamie has started to help Lauren
bond with her teddies. And, in yet other news (and the last picture),
her belly button (or is it umbilical cord?) fell off, so she can now
wear onesies. Exciting times for the parents!!
5/18/05: A random picture,
followed by pictures from our first walk in the neighborhood. She slept
the whole time, and so missed the wonderful views her parents enjoyed.
We're sure she will stay awake one of these times :)
Maia and Taia have come for a visit, so
Lauren was very excited to have all her Grandparents together! However,
when all
that attention isn't enough, we can always resort to her green
bouncer...
She received her first bath at home
so of course, we had to document it. Afterwards, portraits were needed,
as well as some "tummy time" exercise.
First row: Baby's first bath as
well as more pictures from the hospital. Second row - we're
finally home! Third row - take your best guess who she looks like
(there is no really correct answer here :))
Praise the Lord! Our beautiful baby girl
was born at around 8:54PM on 5/7/05, measured 20.5 inches and weighed 7
pounds 11 ounces.
Jamie started labor at around 4:30 AM, received an epidural at about
3:30PM and started pushing at around 6:30 PM. However, she had her
tailbone in the way, so Lauren could not come out, no matter how much
she wanted to - unless she broke mommy's tailbone. At that point, a
C-section was done, and in one of the most intense, emotional moments of
our lives we met our baby.
Praise the Lord, baby is doing great and Jamie is recovering well.
Here are all the pictures we have so far, from the first moments of
birth to this morning (the last picture with Jamie and Lauren).
